It might also happen that suddenly the client desires some extra features to be added to the web design though they were not in the scope of the project previously. If the clients wish, he can stop the payment until the above features are added. In this way you might get stuck and find no way out.
It is never easy to start a business. It involves huge risk. Let us find factors which might hint towards your being at stale. Well, I found my inner expertise of getting into the field. For me, innovation and quality is what sets me apart, and no boasting, but I hold them both as my strong pillars that took me to achieve success as a website designer and developer in Kolkata. So, come and read about it.
MULTITASK
While starting your own business as a freelancer or may be a small agency you needs to sail with multiple ships. It is true that you are your own boss but this is also true that you need to be your own worker as well. From accounts, to sales, to coding all needs to be down by you. No other alternative.
When it comes to development, it is mandatory that you have basic skill set – at least, some knowledge of how to code. Falling of short of which, you are no way a developer. Whilst for a salesman he needs to have a different set of skills. Being both a developer and a salesman is challenging. Many of the developers feel uncomfortable when it comes to marketing their service. Selling their business is what they lack. They are mostly introverts sitting behind their desktop happy coding. They might not like the idea to step out and increase sales. For selling a product is different than selling a service. A product is tangible and it’s testing and verification could be dome before the actual transfer but when it comes to a service you need to know everything and stay connect post delivery. If a developer fails to do so then his business might be at a risk
INEFFICIENT PROPOSALS
For a customer to have its website designed is one of the toughest tasks. And this is not due to the fact that they fear whether the site would meet their requirements but to be connect in the entire process and determine the credibility.
Whenever a proposal is sent to customers, the effectiveness is based on technical stuff and to the customer that is all bizarre. He might have no idea to judge the project based on optimization or customization and he is compelled to decide based on the money charged. Sending up proposals that do not meet their requirements or charging more than others can be a problem for you. As there are many developers who send their plan and even there are multiple projects already in market.
LACK OF RECURRENCE
Now when it comes to freelancers their pay scale is totally unknown. They have no clue as to when they would be paid. Initially they start with finding jobs, and then the entire process of
developing the site and it does not ends here. After completion to it is not sure that they receive the money right then. Until and unless the customers provide approval for the same no money is paid. Customers want to get their work quick and effective. So there is no consistency in payment for freelancer. All they initial bills and
costs are overdue for them only after the project is finally accepted then they are paid.
NOT ABLE TO PREDICT
With steady employers they have a fixed salary and also a stipulated time. If they are signed to pay within a year and a specific amount then it stands true. But this does not apply with freelancers. First of all they have no clue as to when they are paid. Even if they are about to finish and expecting money then under no circumstance can they predict the amount they will recieve. Everything is unpredictable unless they receive.
LACK OF CONTROL
With freelancer they are paid only after the entire project is completed and approved by the customers and that too at the end of the final day. Now the catch lies in knowing when the project is completed. Only customer has the right to decide this. It might also happen that the customer loses interest with passage of time and does show no interest in final stages. He might also take the advantage and make the freelance do extra work and only after multiple attempts declare the project to be completed.
BE YOUR OWN BOSS
It seems wonderful to hear that you are your own boss. At any point of the day you can take a break and go home or when you are not feeling to work just skip but this is all illusion. Doing everything b yourself requires extra effort. It is true that you can take a break at any time but then this is also true that you need to start again and even work for late hours without being paid extra. An employee once leaves office would enter the next day but this does not applies to you.
BAD AT COLLECTION
Customers are sometimes very stubborn Firstly they won’t pay until the project is completed and even if it is dome they tend to make false promises. For freelances it turns irritating asking his money time after time. Sending the invoices multiples times, reminding customers of overdue payments serves a bad phase for the freelancers. Some do not like this idea and avoid speaking of money all the time. In a way this hinders the payment process
FREQUENT CHANGES
Customers are not always sure of the idea to start a website. In the initial phases they have a different mindset and along the process thus changes. Due to this a lot of changes need to be done in the project. The entire process takes time to be ready and if repeatedly customers try to edit the persona then it turns difficult for the freelance to cope with it. His efforts increase drastically and without being paid for that. All of this serves as a shortfall
while dealing with freelancing. So you could see how a freelancer could face different problems for being paid. So when you start with you have a clear discussion with your client regarding payment. Initiate payments throughout the process and not at the ending this would maintain a healthy environment for both.
